If God were part of His creation then he would be taking up space, an element or being in it and thus acting in opposition to it. The mythical Greek gods were like this. They lived in their creation. Often interfering and upsetting the balance.
The real God is spirit. Spirit is outside of physical analysis and thus outside of scientific methodology. Its as if he shines on creation like the sun does on the world, illuminating and empowering every part of creation.
We wouldn't say that to be fully human we must live underground and be away from the light. As the fire burned in the bush in front of Moses without consuming it, God may become visible but never acts in a reactive way taking up neither time nor space but providing the way to the true fullness of life and achieving and maximizing our intended destiny living in Him.
Make sense?
To me this approach of the Catholic faith where we have an all powerful Spirit outside of creation and hence unimaginable from our earthly perspective, is a wonderful source of hope! Heaven becomes not a slightly better version of this world, but a place of intimate immersion in the God who created us. Hence our minds can't fathom or intellects incompass the wonders and joys that await for those that want it.
No.
ReplyDeleteIt still doesn't explain, to continue with the computer theme, why your god cannot just send everyone an email or write a blog to explain himself/herself/itself.
