Which JOSEPH and MARY do you subscribe to?

In recent weeks I heard priests 'dumbing down' both parents in the Holy family. Mary described as a simple peasant girl busying herself with worldly affairs and Joseph an equally simple older chap who was forced to scrape a living doing manual labour.
I don't agree.

I see the two most saintly people that ever existed. Both are committed virgins spending their life's in prayer and good works. Both deeply in love.
That they are poor is due to their generousity to others than lack of income. Mary was exceptional from birth in her spirituality and gifts bestowed on her from God, Joseph was of royal descent and but for the Roman occupation would have been next in line to be king of Juda. These were exceptional people who lived far from mundain lives.

Have fun but do not sin.

    1. Thanks for that clarification Robert. With genealogy information like that at your fingertips it's a wonder that those genealogy sites haven't seconded (see what I did there?) you. You obviously have information going back a couple of millennia that they can only dream of having

On a serious note though I trust that you will have a good day tomorrow and it's so good to hear that Richard (of RBB) and his wonderful wife Shelley will be hosting you for Christmas lunch.

Just another thought though - if Richard is hosting with his usual exotic Christmas themes (Indian, Chinese, Puerto Rican, Icelandic) tomorrow could be Mongolian with lashings of fermented sheep milk, the aforementioned sheep's eyeballs (and her partners testicles) and a salad made of grass and the trimmings from his recently fallen tree.
It'd be a good idea to have a back-up meal prepared at home of roast lamb and roast pork. Just saying.

      Merry Christmas.

    2. ...and it's properly cooked lamb, none of this pink with running blood in the middle!

    3. Just like in the bad old days. Don't forget to boil your cabbage for at least a half hour.

  5. That bottom image of Joseph and Mary makes me think of Matt Gaetz and the statutory rape of a 17 year old old.

  7. All good but what happened to the later posts? They were good.
Take care Robert. Come and visit if you like and don't mind mess (not a lot of clutter now though).
