It was 2.30 am when Alexa produced a sound indicating that someone was 'dropping in'. Rob knew the routine. He had had a full night's sleep having retired at 6.30 pm after watching the news about Ukraine.

Everyday an organisation produces videos of English military analysts on Youtube. Time news? These videos have a ring of authenticity. Every evening he prayed for Russia in the Rosary of the BVM. Last night the 'expert' was talking about the countries that were Russia's possible allies. Iran, China, North Korea and Brazil. He was surprised about Brazil, wasn't that in south America? Evidently Russia isn't really on a war footing. It needs to import much of its weapons. The same with its soldiers. Most are criminals or mercenaries. Evidently the mothers of Russian boys were very upset about losing their sons in Afghanistan too. Russia doesn't want to upset them again. The latest is that Iran has sent 200 medium range ballistic missiles to Russia. The 'experts' think this might spur the USA to allow Ukraine to use long range missiles and strike military targets deep in Russia. The Russian losses are huge. One thousand men a day. They only lost 50,000 in Afghanistan! 

Rob's mind returned to the present. Breakfast was sardines on toast. Easy, Rob made a coffee for himself. He needed another now. He went to the kitchen.
